Sixth Latin edition of Beza’s confession of the Christian faith, bound together with his two-volume
Quaestiones et
responsiones
. Beza’s confession was first published in French in 1559 and represents his most comprehensive and
systematic theological work. It is organized in a traditional trinitarian pattern and deals, among other things, with
the unity and trinity of God, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, the church, and the last judgment. Beza’s other
major work that presents a rather comprehensive range of doctrines is his
Quaestionum et responsionum christianarum
libellus
. It consists of two parts and gives answers to objections to the reformed point of view especially on a variety of
controversial issues. - Dated owner’s inscription on title page, upper pastedownmissing, wormhole in inner margin
of about 20 leaves (slightly affecting a few letters), lower corner of one leaf torn off (not affecting the text), corners of
binding expertly restored, some staining, and a few contemporary underlinings and annotations.
